Who are we?
Dichos is a Spanish language learning app operated by Amares, available at dichos.amares.app. Amares is the data controller for the personal data processed in the app. Contact: info@amares.app
What data do we collect?
Account data (on registration)
- Email address and name — provided at registration, or received from Google or Apple if you sign in with them. If you use Apple's option to hide your email, we receive an anonymised relay address instead.
- Chosen learning and display language
- Invitations — who referred you, and who you refer (when invite links are used)
Learning data
- Quiz results and score per expression
- Progress, streaks and level
- Time spent in the app per day
- Favourite expressions
Technical data
- Cookies from Google AdSense for ad delivery
- Standard server logs (IP address, browser type) via Vercel
Why do we collect data?
- Account & login — to save progress across devices
- Learning statistics — to show level, streaks and motivate continued learning
- Advertising — Google AdSense uses cookies to show relevant ads (requires consent)
Legal basis for processing
- Contract — account, login and learning data are processed to provide the service you request
- Consent — ads and related cookies (Google AdSense)
- Legitimate interest — server logs for operation and security
Google AdSense and cookies
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google may set cookies and collect data about your browsing behaviour.
You will be asked for consent on your first visit and can change your preferences via Google's consent dialogue at any time.
Data sharing
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Data is shared only with:
- Supabase (EU server) — account and learning data storage
- Vercel — hosting and server logs
- Google — AdSense advertising (only with consent)
Supabase stores data in the EU. Google AdSense may transfer data to the US under applicable transfer mechanisms (e.g. the EU Standard Contractual Clauses).
Your rights (GDPR)
- Access — request a copy of your data
- Correction — correct inaccurate information
- Deletion — request deletion of your account and all data
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Withdraw consent — change your advertising consent at any time
- Complaint — you may lodge a complaint with the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet)
Data retention
Data is kept for as long as you are an active user. When an account is deleted, all personal data is removed within 30 days. Server logs are automatically deleted after 30 days.
